Support > Transfer Requests

There are four types of transfers, DNS transfers, Registrar transfers, Registrant transfers and web site content transfers.

Domain Name transfers, or DNS transfers, are a simple process and are necessary in hosting your website. It sets up the hosting company as the technical contact to allow for DNS updates and to notify various agencies who is responsible for hosting the web site.

Registrar transfers sometimes are necessary to consolidate multiple domain names to one administrator account for ease of managing. Many of our clients are unfamiliar with the administrative process required in managing their domain name. The Connecticut Hosting Network can manage their accounts for them at no charge once the accounts are transferred to our pool of managed accounts.

The third type of transfer is ownership transfer. Many times domain names may have been registered in an individual's name and needs to be transferred to the company, or may have been purchased by an individual other that of the original owner or the company has changed hands and the domain name needs to be transferred to the new owner. In either case, a registrant transfer request needs to take place. The Connecticut Hosting Network can assist you in this transfer.

Web site content transfers would be required if the owner wishes to have their site hosted by another company. The web site will need to be backed up via FTP services or other services and moved to the new hosting company. With large sites, this would require a site plan and migration analysis to minimize downtime. Smaller sites could be transferred without difficulty because there usually is no back-end service to tie to.

To get more information regarding transfer requests or have us initiate the request, give us a call and we will be very happy to assist you in the transfer process.
